Description

Products having total porosity of 45% or more, reduced apparent density (preferably 0.4-1.4 g/cm) and thermal conductivity, are called lightweight refractory heat-insulating materials. They are used for external or internal heat insulation of industrial furnaces and other thermal units. Heat-insulating products are manufactured in the form of bricks of normal size and shaped ones of relatively simple form.

Lightweight refractory products can be used for protective working lining not exposed to molten slags, as well as mechanical shocks or abrasion.

Lightweight refractory material in the lining can take an intermediate position between normal refractories and heat insulation products. Refer to also technical data sheets “High-temperature structural heat insulation”, “Low-temperature structural heat insulation”.

For the outer insulation layer, lightweight refractories can be used at a higher temperature of the working space. For lining, more dense products with bulk density of 800 to 1300 kg/m3 are used. More lightweight products, with bulk density of 400 to 800 kg/m3, are used for a heat insulation layer.
